My name is Christopher Ashford. I’m based in London, and after a long and varied career, I reached a stage where I wanted to do things differently.

I’ve worked as a teacher in Further Education, helping students take their first steps into the travel industry. I went on to run a multi-branch travel agency for over 25 years, and for the last 14 years I’ve been a Project Management Director for a global hospitality group.

After all those years of responsibility, I didn’t want to simply “wind down”. Like many people in their 50s and 60s, I wanted a new way to contribute, earn and keep moving forward — but this time, on my own terms.

That’s when I found the Modern Wealthy programme. It’s a step-by-step education in how to create an online business. With my Cert. Ed, I recognise a well-structured curriculum when I see one — and this is one of the clearest and most practical I’ve come across.

Modern Wealthy is helping me build something that fits around the life I enjoy — I use the lounge at Virgin Active Kensington as a co-working space and it’s also handy for a daily swim. I volunteer once a week as an Abbey guide at Westminster Abbey, meeting visitors from all over the world. And every few weeks I look after Henry, a very friendly German Shorthaired Pointer — one of the friendliest dogs you could meet.
